Poppy
Poppy passed away after months of struggling
and fighting to survive. We worked closely with
our vet and tried everything we thought might
have a chance of helping him. Finally the time
came to let him be in peace. Katie Bug and I
think of him everyday and I still shed tears
thinking of him. He was a very special dragon.
Age: three and a half years old
Genetics: Blood X RedFlame
Size: 19-1/2" long and weighs 450
grams (he's lighter than normal as it is breeding
season)
Poppy is an amazing dragon in so many ways. His
colors change from day to day, going from a dark
deep orange to a bright red orange tone. He's like
a mood ring, you can tell Poppy's mood from his
color. He has a personality that is awesome. Poppy
is a lover and will spend the day riding on my
shoulder as if "helping Mom". I normally
don't house a male and female together, however
Poppy and Katie are the exception. They always
appear to be like young sweethearts in love. I
tried placing Poppy in his own home and he refused
to eat; looking so sad and lost. Then Katie decided
to join in the hunger strike and sat all day looking
upset. So after three days apart, I put them together
again and they have stayed together since. They
do everything together and are happy this way.
How can I deny them the special bond and love they
formed from the first moment? Poppy, unlike some
males I have, does not continually chase Katie
around trying to breed. He just lounges and relaxes
happily with her. I'm sure the children they produce
will be amazing, not only in color but in attitude.
